From the company's initial cast-magnesium MotoMag wheels to its current crop of BMX, mountain, and pavement bikes, the Mongoose name has been synonymous with bicycle performance. Mongoose builds specifically for riders, which is why the company's BMX designers aren't wasting time watching reruns on ESPN2. Instead, they're constantly testing their new designs at the park, on the track, and on the hill. This continuous experimentation is what drives Mongoose to cook up things like the Front Porch head tube, which lets you fine-tune the handling on Black Diamond series mountain bikes, or Freedrive suspension technology, which eliminates pedal bob and provides a super-efficient full suspension. Mongoose bikes don't just push the limits; they set new ones.

They don't just clip on
After about 4 or 5 hours faffery-pokery, my tri-bar experiment is now set up.
"Clip on" says the packaging. Well, perhaps. Except firstly I needed to replace the speedo as my existing one only has a bar mounting, which is obviously not compatible. Never mind, I upgraded to this nice Strada, which gives the additional function of cadence by addition of a second magnet on the crank and a corresponding sensor. So that took about an hour to wire up and get the required clearance - which at the back of the CAAD9 is very tight thanks to the enormous sculpted chain stays that hug the wheel and the crank arm.
Then I tried out the bars, only to realise that firstly the bolt underneath that clamps fore / aft movement of the extensions is located "upside down" and is obscured by the handlebars when the clip-ons are in place. Fortunately the whole lot could be disassembled and rebuilt "back to front", meaning that said bolt now faced down the way, where you can get at it with an Allen key. It also gave more clearance to get them in close to the oversize clamp.
Then I realised that the existing cable routing meant that you'd have to clamp the clip-ons over the brake cables. Clearly not practical or safe. Only I couldn't just unwind the bar tape back a few inches to re-route the cables, as I had originally wrapped it from the inside out the way... Oh well, I had some lovely 2-tone Fizik tape that matches my saddle that I had been meaning to install anyway, so the whole lot came off and was re-wound from the bar end in the way. It was then cut short, the cables were re-routed and the clip-ons could now be installed. The front brake cable and housing had to be reduced in length by about 4 inches to stop it fouling itself... Then came the easy bit of bolting on the arm rests and the extensions and levelling everything up and making sure it was symmetrical...
And I still have to get a riding position sorted!

unfortunately, the bottom bolt for the bottle cage has a stripped out head so I'm stuck with that ugly purple cage. I think I'll bust out the paint pen and make it black.
(Road bike) A road bicycle is similar to a racing bicycle. However, roadbikes are built more for endurance and less for fast bursts of speed, which is desired in a racing bicycle. They usually have more gear combinations and fewer hi-tech racing features.
(Road biking) Road cycling is the most widespread form of cycling. It takes place primarily on paved surfaces. It includes recreational, racing, and utility cycling.

Davis Lake - Merritt BC
Aug1st 2011, our first trip to Davis lake. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I did try to find as much info on the Lake online, but it was very limited so, I took some pictures and wanted to write a little info on Davis Lake for any first timers like me visiting the Lake.
I was pleased that there were many sites and they were not right beside each other. We had a tent and a tent trailer and the sites we picked (#19 and #20) were completely flat. All sites appeared to be very level. There is a steel rim to build a fire in. Outhouses were cleaned and checked daily. The park attendance were very nice people. My son was quite disappointed that the fishing was not good that weekend. A few were caught by others (trolling with wedding band, willow leaf, and worm). There is a small boat launch area and its easy to get to. Swimming is good and the lake is refreshing.
One down fall of the campsite was that Davis Lake is a VERY POPULAR destination for dirt bikes and quads noisy all day, but campers were mindful at night. There seemed to be a wind everyday, but calmed just in time for the evening. I was also happy there were very little mosquitoes. I am new to this site so I will try and see if my beautiful pictures of the Lake can be uploaded.
You will enjoy your time at Davis Lake.
I am going to post more pics on YouTube if you would like to see all the shots I took. It will give you a good idea of what the Lake is like. ps. I want to add, I mentioned the dirt bikes and quads. There is a sign posted reminding off roaders to idle out of the campsite and onto the many trails nearby. Most campers follow the rule, but those who don't get a "shout out" by other campers to slow down. They do stick to the trails that are off in the hills, but the getting there can be noisy. We still had a great time and by day 2, the noise didn't seem to be as prominent.
is the sport of riding bicycles in a more extreme way, although not necessarily off paved roads—trials and street riding are examples of types of mountainbiking based more around urban areas. It requires endurance, bike handling skills and self-reliance.
Mountain biking is a sport which consists of riding bicycles off-road, often over rough terrain, using specially adapted mountainbikes. Mountain bikes share similarities with other bikes, but incorporate features designed to enhance durability and performance in rough terrain.
